Restaurant WiFi: what to check before installation
Terrace coverage, separate networks and POS connections: prepare an Omada installation with practical checks.
Check coverage where staff work
A test next to the router does not represent the whole installation. Check the bar, kitchen, storeroom and terrace with doors closed and in walkways. Walls, metal furniture and the layout affect access point placement.
Separate guests and business equipment
Plan a guest network separate from business equipment. Separation must be configured on network devices and tested; changing the WiFi name alone does not guarantee isolation.
Prioritise a stable connection
Consider wired connections for fixed terminals and WiFi for mobile devices. Before proposing a router, switch or access points, we review outlets, power, device counts and the internet connection. The final number of access points follows a site assessment.
Define who maintains the network
Agree who keeps credentials, installs updates and backs up settings. Document what to do during an internet outage and consider whether a backup connection is needed. The maintenance scope should appear in the quote.
